The uninsured are the political pawns in the game!
According to the Healthy Indiana Plan there are about 561,000 Hoosiers without heath coverage on any given day.
Studies indicate that about 44% of the uninsured are uninsured by choice.
If that's accurate, then about 246,840 Hoosiers are truly unable to afford health insurance. However, that represents only 4.11% of Hoosiers.
So is health care truly "unaffordable" if 95.89% of Hoosiers can afford health insurance?
The concern is the sacrafice those 5.75 million Hoosiers make to pay those premiums.
Taxpayers already afford plenty of funding for the uninsured, but those dollars are spent wastefully by a few rather than responsibly by all.
So why do we focus so much attention on the uninsured?
