State governments have the ability to regulate health insurance, yet Indiana has failed to do in the patient's best interest. Instead it has limited competition and protected the industry.
Just
as the SEC should regulate securities, so too the government should
regulate heath care ON THE STATE LEVEL.
Government should regulate
health care, not dictate health care processes as it currently does on
the Federal level.
Governmental involvement must be limited to:
1. Oversight of integrity and solvency of participants. This includes prosecution of fraud by providers, enrollees and insurers.
2. Providing transparency. Information is the key to power.
3. Subsidizing where needed i.e. Medicaid.
